Mercedes-Benz E-Class Hybrid to launch in Japan and the world

The newly introduced “Mercedes-Benz E-Class hybrid” is also called double-green car. The E300 diesel hybrid is called by Mercedes-Benz “world’s No.1 fuel-economy luxury car”. The gasoline version E400 hybrid will first marketed in USA and then to domestic market of Japan. Although the price of the E-Class hybrid model has not  announced yet, but it seems the price will be little higher than expected, despite the Mercedes-Benz wants to keep the price lower than BMW Japan cars marketing in domestic. The diesel-hybrid version is expected a fuel-efficiency 19 kilometers per liter, while the gasoline-hybrid E400 Hybrid will get 11.5 kilometers per liter. The E300 will be available in sedan and also station wagon versions. While the E-Class hybrid will be produced in sedan only.

Since Mercedes-Benz Company has tough competition with Japanese new car manufacturers in Japan’s domestic market, they have to produce something special to capture the whole Japanese market which is now turning to Hybrid cars. That’s why the Mercedes is making green cars cooler, and cool cars greener, to cover upper-class Japanese buyers. Since Japanese upper calss has enough budget to buy a luxury car like E-Hybrid, the company is planning to sell maximum units in terms of quantity in the year 2012.

Mercedes-Benz marks record highest sales in 2011

The year 2011 was the best year for Mercedes-Benz in terms of total units sales, as Mercedes-Benz sold record units this year which is highest ever in a single year in the history of German car-maker. Mercedes-Benz has sold 1,362,908 cars in single year of 2011. This figure is about 77,000 cars more than the previous record of year 2007 in which around 1,285,900 units were sold. But Mercedes-Benz was able to create new record due to production plants shut-down of Japanese car makers after March 2011 earthquake and tsunami. After the natural disaster, Japanese auto makers were forced to slow-down their production as most of their factories were destroyed in quake and tsunami.

This situation give a free hand to non-Japanese auto makers to sell their cars in Japan’s domestic market and rest of the world without any competition. The only auto sector in Japan after the disaster got good business was Japanese used cars sale, as the sales of second hand Japanese cars was record high due to immediate delivery from the current stock., while new cars delivery was made after 6 months to one year, after the reconstruction of auto production plants.
